[ Character's Age ] : Early 30s
[ Series ] : Name Kuroshitsuji
[ Canon Point ] : During the Jack the Ripper arc of the manga

[ History ] : Link here

[ Personality ] :
Madam Red is first introduced to the reader as a noble lady who is Ciel Phantomhive's (the protagonist's) aunt. On her first appearance she is shown trespassing on Ciel's house in London and messing everything up while searching for tea. On this and other moments, Angelina is seen as a woman without much regard for the Victorian rules of propriety, such as touching Sebastian's backside or telling dirty jokes. She is one of the people who knows Ciel's work as the Queen's Watchdog, and Ciel allows her to go with him when collecting information about Jack the Ripper's case. Not to mention that she uses her socialite status to help him gather information.

On first sight, Angelina is more or less your typical British noble woman. She wears expensive and flamboyant clothes, all in red. Her hair, eye and choice dressing color have made her known as Madame Red among the circle of nobles in London. She is very popular among high society, and receives many invitations to gatherings and parties during the social season in London, which she mostly attends. It was in one of these parties that she met her now deceased husband, Baron Barnett. However, unlike most British noble women, she went to medical school and obtained her license. And she practices medical arts at an hospital in London.

As the arc progresses, we get to see more of her real personality. She deeply cares about her nephew Ciel Phantomhive, her sister's only son, as if he were her own. Angelina worries about him getting hurt by doing the jobs Queen Victoria asks of him as the Earl Phantomhive. She also thinks that Ciel takes unnecessary risks, particularly where finding the ones who betrayed his family is concerned. And she possibly doesn't quite trust Sebastian to take care of him, as he appeared seemingly out of nowhere when Ciel reappeared. She wishes that he could lead a normal lifestyle, and not continue to involve himself in all the cases he must solve, including his own.

Near the end, it is found out that Jack the Ripper was actually Angelina, aided by her "butler", the death reaper Grell Sutcliff. Her motivation for murdering the prostitutes is her feelings of hatred towards women who would willingly throw away the lives of their unborn children. During the accident that took her husband's and baby's life, her womb was damaged and had to be removed. This rendered her unable to have children, which is one of her greatest desires. The prostitutes came to her to have abortions performed, and this is a crime she can't forgive them. Her first murder is witnessed by Grell, after which he joins her in her crimes. This way, with his help, she managed to elude the authorities as the mysterious serial killer Jack the Ripper.

But Angelina was not always like this. As a teenager, she was extremely shy, and she hated her red hair, which she got from her father. Until the day she met Vincent Phantomhive, who told her red suited her well. After this day, she began to love the color red, and used it often on her clothing. Not only this, but she also cut her bangs and became a more cheerful and outgoing girl. Also, she fell in love with him. Unfortunately, her heart was broken when the engagement of the Count to her sister was announced. Even if she wished for their happiness, the jealousy she felt would follow her until the day of her death.

Being indirectly rejected by the man she loved, his marriage to her sister, and the birth of her nephew all brought pain to her heart. These events made her begin to hate the color red again. However, she kept wearing it in her clothes and makeup, as well as attending to the lavish parties of high society, though she hated them. These were the ways in which she could try to hide her pain from those she loved the most. While she might have resented her sister, she also loved her dearly, and would not want to ruin her happiness.

Angelina can be a kind woman, however life has not been kind to her. She could not be with the man she loved. She lost her husband and unborn child, as well as her capacity to have more children. And then she also lost her sister and that man. She is a woman who doesn't have much more to lose, and this is probably what makes her dangerous. She is beautiful, intelligent, cunning and sometimes cruel.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Strengths:
Angelina does not possess any super human abilities. However she does have a medical license, which means she went through full training at medicine school, an huge accomplishment for a woman in the Victorian era. So yes, she's quite smart. She apparently specializes in female reproduction, as she has practiced abortions and has successfully removed the uterus of several women. Not to mention she is capable of committing murder. She also has great social skills. She might hate parties, but always finds her way flawlessly through them.

Weaknesses:
She was always jealous of her sister Rachel, because she got to marry Count Phantomhive. Even after her sister's death, these feelings lingered. Her nephew Ciel can be considered a weakness, because she loves him as if he were her own. Though the manga implies that she feels a bit of hate for him too, for having survived while her two most important people (Ciel's parents) died. Also, due to an accident, she can't have children, and that fact makes her really sad and is one of her motives for becoming Jack the Ripper.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
She wanted to have a daughter.
She instructed Elizabeth Midford, Ciel's fiancée to be cute and weak in front of her husband/future husband. Because according to her, men like women to be soft and submissive.

[ Sample ] :
For the sample, I'm going to be using one of the prompts provided by you guys: A new curse has settled upon the city of Vatheon: Suddenly you character realizes they are unable to lie for the duration of a week. How do they react?

Angelina has slowly been adapting to the city of Vatheon. She actually has found it to be an interesting place to live in, and even got a job at the clinic. She was rather disappointed to see that she hardly qualifies as a medical school student or a nurse with her current level of knowledge, but she is willing to study hard to be up to par with other doctors there. But well, can she hardly be blamed to have been born during the 19th century? Who would have known that in less than 150 years, with respect to her time, things would change so much. Although is rather hard to tell which Earth year is Vatheon's equivalent.

It was one of those days that she had stayed up trying to catch up with her medicine knowledge that she woke up later than usual. Or it had started that way. Instead, she had ended up brooding about the past and getting a bit drunk. She must have gone to bed past 5:00. It was now 9:00, at which time her shift started. She quickly dressed into her uniform and was just starting to think what kind of excuse she would tell to her boss.

"Maybe I'll say that on the way to work I-" Her voiced thought is cut off. While she can think it, she can't say it out loud. "Alright, let's try again... On the way to work I was delayed because I woke up late. Damn! What's wrong with me?" Yes, she realizes proper ladies shouldn't curse, but she's no longer in the Victorian Era, so it hardly matters, does it?

"Just one more try... This morning... I... I..." she tries really hard to lie, but all that she comes up with is: "This morning I was late to work because I stayed up drinking last night and couldn't wake up early." She lets out a series of very unladylike curses. Without further ado, she drags her tired body to the clinic. She hopes she won't meet Ciel, because if he starts asking questions, she'll be giving him very honest answers...
